WPShieldJournal is an independent publication that helps WordPress site owners secure their websites, fix common errors, improve performance and keep everything running smoothly. Our guides are written for bloggers, small business owners, WooCommerce store owners, freelancers and anyone responsible for a WordPress site.
What we cover
- Security: hardening, login protection, malware investigation and recovery after an incident.
- Errors & Fixes: step-by-step solutions for critical errors, database problems, login issues and plugin conflicts.
- Speed & Performance: caching, images, Core Web Vitals and server-side performance.
- Maintenance: safe updates, database cleanup, staging and routine health checks.
- Backups & Hosting: backups that actually restore, migrations and hosting troubleshooting.
- Reviews: evidence-based comparisons of security, backup, caching and hosting tools.
How we write our guides
- We explain why a problem happens, not only which button to click, so you can adapt the fix to your own site.
- When we use this site as an example, we show what we actually found, and we say clearly when something has not been tested or measured.
- We link to official documentation from WordPress.org, PHP and the relevant plugin or host so you can check our work.
- We warn you before any step that could break your site or lose data, and we tell you to take a backup first.
- We update guides when WordPress, PHP or popular plugins change, and we show the date of the last review.
What we will not do
- Present a comparison as a hands-on test when it is not, or invent test results, ratings or user numbers. Comparisons based on official documentation say so at the top.
- Accept payment for a positive review or a higher ranking.
- Hide commercial relationships. If we ever earn from a link, we will say so clearly, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Free tools
Alongside the guides, we publish free tools that run in your browser: a troubleshooting finder and checklists for maintenance, security hardening and backup and recovery. They do not scan your site and never ask for login details. See all free resources.
