Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information WPShieldJournal (wpshieldjournal.com, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit the website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information we collect

Information you send us

When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, an optional subject and your message. The form sends this information to us by email so we can reply. A copy of each message is also saved in the website’s database so we can keep track of messages. The form does not record your IP address or device details. If you email us directly at wpshieldjournal@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

Comments

If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam. Comments are held for moderation before they appear. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service operated by Automattic to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.

Checklists and troubleshooting tools

Our interactive checklists save which items you have ticked in your own browser’s local storage, so your progress is still there when you return on the same device. This information is not sent to us or to anyone else, and you can clear it with the Reset button or by clearing your browser’s site data. The troubleshooting finder runs entirely in your browser and does not send your selections to us. None of these tools ask for passwords or login details.

Server and security logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the website secure, diagnose problems and protect against abuse.

Cookies

Visitors who simply read the website are not given tracking cookies by us. WordPress sets cookies only in these situations:

  • If you leave a comment and choose to save your details, cookies remember your name, email and website for your next comment.
  • Site administrators who log in receive essential login cookies.

We do not currently use analytics, advertising, social media tracking or remarketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy before those services are enabled and, where required by law, ask for your consent.

Third-party services

  • Hosting: the website is hosted by Hostinger, which processes server data as described above.
  • Email: messages sent through the contact form or to our email address are received in a Gmail account provided by Google.
  • Gravatar: used for comment profile pictures, as described above.
  • WordPress.org emoji images: if your browser cannot display an emoji used on a page, WordPress may load the image from WordPress.org.
  • Links to other websites: our guides link to official documentation and other external sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Advertising and affiliate links

The website does not currently display advertising or contain affiliate links. We may introduce advertising (for example, Google AdSense) or affiliate links in the future. Before we do, we will update this Privacy Policy and our Affiliate Disclosure to explain what changes and what choices you have.

How we use information

  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To display and moderate comments.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent spam and fix technical problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

How long we keep information

  • Contact form messages are kept in our email only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
  • Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as the comment is published, so that follow-up comments can be approved automatically. You can ask us to delete your comment at any time.
  • Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention rules.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, Canadian privacy law, the Australian Privacy Act or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. To make a request, please contact us or email wpshieldjournal@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This website is intended for adults managing websites and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and we will revise the date at the top of the page.
